Inspired by the rich history of exceptional perpetual calendar watchmaking, the reference 5496P-001 draws inspiration from Patek Philippe's first retrograde perpetual calendar wristwatch from 1937. Debuted at Baselworld 2011, the 5496 features a classic round Calatrava-style case and clean design aesthetics, maximizing legibility with its horizontal aperture display for day and month indications, along with an arced retrograde date. The ref. 5496 is a delightful celebration of simplicity.
Over the years, Patek Philippe has introduced the model in various case materials and dial variations, starting with a platinum case featuring a silvered dial, followed by a honey brown dial in platinum in 2014, and finally a silvered dial with pink gold in 2015.
Fresh-to-the-market, the present example from circa 2012 is fitted with a silvered dial and is part of the very first generation of the reference. Presented in "like-new", sealed condition and accompanied by an additional solid caseback and complete accessories, this ref. 5496P-001, measuring 39.5mm, is a charming addition to any collection.
