Catalogue Essay
- The reference 5235G was introduced in mid-2011 as the first model with a regulator-style time display in Patek Philippe’s catalogue. Inspired by old regulator clocks from the eighteenth century and historical regulator-style pocket watches, the 5235G is imbued with a unique aesthetics and is adored for its understated beauty.
- The vertical symmetrical dial of the watch is visually stunning. An exquisite silver brushed dial contrasts with the light silver outer minute ring, and juxtaposes with the white sub-dials adorned by delicate azurage guilloché. The crisply engraved Patek Philippe logo is tastefully added to the silver brushed surface, subtly presenting itself when reflected under the light. The case of the watch is equally striking with its sharp edges, brushed casebands and iconic pointy lugs. The matching Art Deco style buckle is also a charming touch to the watch.
- Designed specifically for this reference, the caliber 31-260 REG QA is the first serially produced movement that incorporates three silicon components developed by the Advance Research department: a silicon escape wheel, a silicon anchor and a silicon balance spring. All of which are observable from the sapphire caseback, along with the elegant architecture and beautiful finishing of the movement.
- The present example from circa 2017 is offered in attractive overall condition and is accompanied by a Patek Philippe presentation box. As this white gold version of the 5235G was discontinued in 2019, the rare opportunity to obtain the present watch should not be missed by the discerning collectors.
