Catalogue Essay
Released in 2006 together with its other important milestone contemporary Nautilus models such as the ref. 5711, 5980 and 5712, the ref. 5800 marked the return of the mid-sized Nautilus model replacing its previous ref. 3800. Produced only in stainless steel and for only a minimal year, the ref. 5800 is a rare bird. Retaining its classic aesthetic of a monobloc case with an integrated sapphire caseback, the reference is a transitional example combining elements of the past and present.

The 38mm diameter case is slightly larger than the ref. 3800 which featured a 37.5mm diameter case. Keeping its signature blued ribbed dial, the movement underneath is powered by the firm’s in-house cal. 330 SC featuring a straight-line lever escapement, shock absorber mechanism, a flat balance spring with self-compensating and a monometallic balance and the firm’s classic gold rotor, ensuring robustness and quality timekeeping.

Offered in excellent overall condition and complete with its original Certificate of Origin from 2009, the present example boasts a lengthy bracelet measuring 200mm in length. A perfect chance for lover’s of the Nautilus to acquire one of the rarest stainless steel Nautilus models ever produced.
