Patek Philippe released the limited edition reference 5565, along with the reference 5105 in 2006 as a celebration marking the inauguration of their Salons Patek Philippe in Geneva, which were recently renovated. The models were sold exclusively through the salons and paid homage to the brand’s storied past. The reference 5565 took its inspiration from one of Patek Philippe’s most iconic timepieces the reference 565, which was launched in 1938.
The modern watch features the 1970s caliber 215 PS, but the dial is similar to earlier dials with a silvered two-tone finish with vertical satin finished center and applied black Arabic and baton numerals with luminous dots and hands. The case back is engraved “Patek Philippe Geneve 1839-1982-2006”, three historical dates, 1839 founding of Patek, Czapek &Cie at Quai des Bergues 29; Patek Philippe moved to Rue du Rhône in 1853 and in 1892 they celebrated the renovation of the building under the direction of architect Jacques-Elisée Goss and then the 2006 celebration.
The present watch is in excellent condition and is an important reminder Patek Philippe’s long history.
