Launched at Basel in 1993, reference 5050 was Patek Philippe's first perpetual calendar wristwatch to be fitted with a retrograde date function that was produced in a series.
The present watch was manufactured in 2008 - six years after the reference ceased production. It is believed that this example, featuring an archive-confirmed special silvery opaline-white dial and yellow gold Breguet numerals, was specially produced for one of Patek Philippe's most distinguished clients. To our knowledge, the present watch is the only known example with such a dial that has appeared on the market.
This watch is preserved in excellent condition, with very crisp hallmarks to the side of the case. The back of the lugs furthermore display a sharp gold mark and the case maker mark for Favre & Perret SA. A complete set, it is accompanied by its original certificate, additional case back and fitted presentation box.
