Good To Know:
- First tourbillon launched by the brand
- Cased in platinum and well-preserved
- Accompanied with its guarantee and box
In 1998, Michel Parmigiani presented his first wristwatch: the Toric. With this debut model, he established the design codes that would become his signature: long, downturned lugs, a knurled double-step bezel, and distinctive hands.
The name “Toric” derives from the toroidal forms evident in the collection’s stepped, fluted bezels. These draw inspiration from Hellenic and Roman architecture, as well as the sublime curvature of the Golden Ratio.
In 2000, Parmigiani introduced the Toric Tourbillon — the brand’s first tourbillon wristwatch. It was built around the celebrated Girard-Perregaux Three Golden Bridges 9900 ébauche, which Parmigiani completely reworked into a strikingly avant-garde piece for its time. By omitting a conventional dial and using a beautifully decorated ¾ top plate with Geneva waves (Côtes de Genève), the movement itself became the focal point.
This platinum example measuring 40mm remains well-preserved, highlighting the elegant double-stepped case with straight lugs. The hallmarks are crisp and deep. Accompanied by its guarantee and box, this early tourbillon offers a wealth of refined details that continue to captivate collectors.
