-- Known for time only to grand complication timepieces, Parmigiani Fleurier watches are instantly recognizable for their distinctive design. Over the last 29 years, the brand has expanded their collection including an exclusive line of tourbillon wristwatches with a Toric Tourbillon, Kalpa XL, Pershing and like the present lot, the Tonda Tourbillon.
--The tourbillon is a prized complication amongst collectors for both its design and complexity. First patented by the famed horologist Abraham Louis Breguet in 1801, the tourbillon features a rotating cage on its own axis surrounding the balance wheel and escapement to provide stability for more accurate time keeping. The Tonda Tourbillon was introduced in 2004, with the world’s first 30-second tourbillon with two revolutions per minute.
--The present limited edition platinum Tonda Tourbillon, from circa 2018, was made in 100 examples. Extremely well-finished, it uses the in-house caliber PF510 with tourbillon at 6 o’clock and seven day power reserve at 12 o’clock utilizing a double barrel system. The watch features a stunning, two-tone slate dial with côtes de Geneve decoration. It is preserved in excellent condition and accompanied by its original guarantee and presentation box.
