Catalogue Essay
- Jiro Katayama draws inspiration from analogue instruments in his creations, and Model No. 6 resembles pressure gauges. The retro-futuristic look of his watches separates his work from the more traditional looking watches we see in the Japanese watch market. In 2024, at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève, Model No. 6 was awarded the winner of the “Challenge” award, while in the same year at the Phillips TOKI: Watch Auction it had a stunning record of being auctioned at HKD469,900, exceeding ten times more than the higher estimate.
- Model No. 6 houses the trustworthy Miyota cal. 9015 with an in-house retrograde module. The case and hands are also crafted in Katayama’s workshop, together with the Japanese engraving on the dial, this watch is a great example of contemporary Japanese watchmaking with a industrial and modern aesthetic.
