  • Catalogue Essay

    - In 2017, Omega celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the very first Seamaster 300 in the most lavish fashion with a modern interpretation of the original ref. CK2913. The present ref. 234.10.39.20.01.001 was released as a limited edition of 3,557 pieces that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the 1957 design built with today’s technological advancements.

    - From afar, this commemorative piece looks almost identical to any “standard” Seamaster 300, but the 60th Anniversary reproduction is, in fact, a completely different watch altogether. As a direct descendent of the ref. CK2913, the present model is framed in the same 39mm stainless steel case with a matching dial configuration, while the original radium markers are replaced with the safer Super-Luminova on both the broad arrow handset and the indexes. The dial on the reissue is given a factory-tropical-finish and the lumes are also “pre-patinated” to achieve the perfectly aged vintage aesthetic. Simultaneously, the reverse minute countdown is featured on the bezel, a style also found in the original Seamaster. The font and applied lume pip at 60 minutes are also identical to its predecessor. In favour of the original acrylic bi-directional bezel, the present model is armed with a high-resistance aluminium bezel, made to withstand the test of time. In line with the very first Seamaster 300, this diver's’watch is also driven by an automatic movement. Instead of the original cal. 501, the present timepiece replaced it with the new and improved cal. 8806. Known for their attention to detail, Omega did not disappoint by featuring the correct Naïad sign embossed on the crown and the iconic Seahorse on the caseback, which truly respects the original timepiece.

    - Offered by the original owner, the present Seamaster 300M "The 1957 Trilogy" Limited Edition numbered 1,166 of a limited edition of 3,557 pieces is delivered in “like-new” condition with its full set of accessories.

  • Artist Biography

    Omega

    Swiss • 1848

Omega's rich history begins with its founder, Louis Brandt, who established the firm in 1848 in La Chaux de Fonds. In 1903, the company changed its name to Omega, becoming the only watch brand in history to have been named after one its own movements. A full-fledged manufacturer of highly accurate, affordable and reliable watches, its sterling reputation enabled them to be chosen as the first watch company to time the Olympic Games beginning in 1932. Its continued focus on precision and reliability ultimately led their Speedmaster chronograph wristwatch to be chosen by NASA in 1965 — the first watch worn on the moon.

Key models sought-after by collectors include their first, oversized water-resistant chronograph — the reference 2077, early Speedmaster models such as the CK 2915 and 2998, military-issued versions of the Seamaster and oversized chronometer models such as those fitted with their prestigious caliber 30T2Rg.
