- The Ploprof might be one of Omega’s most unusual looking watches: the enormous angular case design, the large for the bezel lock, the prominent bezel… It is safe to say it is a watch unlike any other, furthermore endowed with advanced technical waterproof capabilities and a distinguished history (it was notably used by COMEX as well as Ocean Systems Inc.).
- Amidst the 75th anniversary of the Omega Seasmaster in 2023, the Ploprof 1200M, taking the design cues from the 1970s original, was released along with other Seamaster models in a unique “Summer Blue” sun-burst dial paired with hour markers and hands in blue Super-LumiNova. The dial also registers the 1200m depth that the watch can withstand.
- The bold monobloc case made a return in this 2023 release, instead of a titanium or normal stainless steel case, the bloc is made of a special nickel-free stainless steel alloy called O-MEGASTEEL. The rotating bezel is made in transparent sapphire crystal varnished blue on the back, cohering with the “Summer Blue” dial.
- Flipping the watch over, one can see the laser-engraved commemorative Seamaster logo, depicting the Greek god of the sea Poseidon and two seahorses, resembling the 1956 Omega original and the modern design.
- The watch operates on the cal. 8912 movement, featuring a Co-Axial escapement, a free-sprung balance, a silicon Si14 balance spring and a magnetic resistance to 15,000 gauss.
- Offered in “like-new” condition with its original accessories, this modern rendition of the Seamaster Ploprof is for sure an attractive addition to nautical exploration enthusiasts and Omega collectors.

In 1903, the company changed its name to Omega, becoming the only watch brand in history to have been named after one its own movements.
