Catalogue Essay
- Based on the reference 105.003 worn by the astronaut Ed White during the first American spacewalk as a part of the Gemini IV mission in 1965, the present reference 311.30.40.30.01.001 was launched in 2020, and is a splendid re-introduction of the calibre 321, one of the most celebrated and sought-after movements in the history of watchmaking.

- Exposed on the sapphire caseback, the new calibre 321 is virtually the same as the original movement that was worn on the moon, with the replacement of copper with 18K SednaTM gold and PVD coated finish, making it more resistant to corrosion. As its production requires fine adjustment by hand, each movement is assembled and regulated by a single watchmaker, contributing to its remarkably low production number.

- The new design is a faithful rendering of the original “Ed White” that features straight lugs, stepped dial with vintage logo, the classic Moonwatch hands, iconic dot-over-90 bezel, and lack of crown guards. Furthermore, the present reference is fitted with an attractive modified flat-link bracelet that wears comfortably on the wrist.

- Offered in excellent condition and complete with its full set of accessories, the present Speedmaster “Ed White” is a charming re-edition that evokes strong sentimental fondness and will for sure captivate all lovers of the legendary Moonwatch.

Omega

Swiss | 1848
Omega's rich history begins with its founder, Louis Brandt, who established the firm in 1848 in La Chaux de Fonds. In 1903, the company changed its name to Omega, becoming the only watch brand in history to have been named after one its own movements. A full-fledged manufacturer of highly accurate, affordable and reliable watches, its sterling reputation enabled them to be chosen as the first watch company to time the Olympic Games beginning in 1932. Its continued focus on precision and reliability ultimately led their Speedmaster chronograph wristwatch to be chosen by NASA in 1965 — the first watch worn on the moon.Key models sought-after by collectors include their first, oversized water-resistant chronograph — the reference 2077, early Speedmaster models such as the CK 2915 and 2998, military-issued versions of the Seamaster and oversized chronometer models such as those fitted with their prestigious caliber 30T2Rg.
