Since gaining its popularity after the successful event of the moon landing, the Omega Speedmaster was produced with various complications such as an additional date and moon phases displayed in an additional subsidiary dial located on the 12 O’clock position. With three variants in total, the first “Speedymoon” was introduced in 1985 featuring a “smiling” moon and fitted on a 1447 bracelet. The 1447 bracelet is rare as it is the first bracelet manufactured with solid endlinks stamped 805. The second generation features a smaller moon and identifiable by the blue fade on the bezel through age. The final version features a larger moon and identifiable by the grey fade on the bezel through age sporting a 1479 bracelet.
The present example of a Speedymoon belongs to the final version which features a larger faceless moon, presented in excellent overall condition and sporting a rare 1447 bracelet belonging to the first series.
