Legacy Machine Split Escapement
A cutting-edge and attractive limited edition white gold wristwatch with suspended balance wheel, date, power reserve indication, warranty and presentation box, numbered 7 of a limited edition of 18 pieces
Full-Cataloguing
Maximilian Büsser introduced the Legacy Machine in 2011—his first classically round wristwatch that still defied contemporary trends. In 2017, MB&F unveiled this innovative iteration of the Legacy Machine, the Split Escapement. This example, number 7 of a limited release, features an 18K white gold case paired with a yellow gold micro-textured “frosted” finish dial.
The present Legacy Machine Split Escapement retains the design codes of the previous Legacy Machines, showcasing a domed crystal, white lacquered subdials, and an oversized 14mm balance suspended over the dial, secured by an arch-shaped bridge. However, the anchor and escape wheel are meticulously hidden on the opposite side of the movement, nearly 12 mm below, achieved through a technical feat involving an 11.78mm long balance staff that connects the balance wheel to the pallet fork.
For this project, Max Büsser collaborated with Irish watchmaker Stephen McDonnell, with whom he had previously worked on the LM Perpetual, creating a remarkable fusion of traditional Swiss craftsmanship and avant-garde design.
To complement the watch's high-end aesthetic, the textured golden dial was created by manually burnishing a metal surface with a wire brush. This results in a magnificent vista of shimmering effects, with a light texture reminiscent of fine guilloché. Offered in excellent condition with its full set of original accessories, this timepiece is part of a limited release of just 18 pieces.
Please note that MB&F generously offers a complementary servicing of the watch to the winning bidder within a period of 6 months after the sale.
