Catalogue Essay
A great collaboration between Longines and Hodinkee, yielding a subtle and highly wearable modern watch that draws inspiration from Longines Chronometers of the past. I especially love the two-tone finish of the dial and the well-made bracelet. - Mark Cho

- Drawing from the strong legacy of Longines, the present Heritage Classic Limited Edition for HODINKEE is a beautiful reinterpretation of the manufacturer’s chronometers built in the last century, designed with a contemporary twang that will appeal to modern collectors. Fusing classical proportions and design, this exciting collaboration resulted in a sublime two-tone cream dial with a brush-finished chapter ring. The iconic crosshair division on its predecessors has been removed, which further elevates the present model with a cleaner aesthetic that draws one in.

- Unlike its predecessors, painted strokes of black are used as the hour and minutes markers instead of numeral indexes, creating a pleasant contrast to the overall complexation of the dial which heightens legibility.

- The engine-turned small seconds at six o’clock not only adds depth and shade, but also sets it apart from the rest of the dial. Likewise, the blued hands brings a dash of colour and contrast, and the beads-of-rice bracelet wears comfortably on the wrist.

- Fitted in a 38.5mm case, the exterior of the watch is complete with its stepped bezel and tapered lugs, resulting in a staggering wrist presence, despite its modest size.

- Each piece marked with its own individual number, the Longines Heritage Classic Limited Edition for HODINKEE is a limited edition of 500 pieces only, specially designed to cater to the needs of today’s enthusiasts. Suited to be worn both on formal occasions or casual settings, the present “new-old-stock" example is numbered 401 and is accompanied by its original accessories, further certified by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres).

Longines

Swiss | 1832
Auguste Agassiz founded Longines in 1832, and today is considered to be a pioneer in the evolution of the chronograph. During the 1930s, Longines' chronograph wristwatches were used as tools for wartime aviators and military personnel. As one of Switzerland's largest manufacturers, Longines was an important supplier of wristwatches to militaries of multiple nations.

Today, they are owned by the Swatch Group and produce wristwatches for both men and women. Their vintage wristwatches continue to grow in desirability amongst collectors. Some of the most sought-after models include such oversized chronographs as the Lindbergh Hour Angle designed by Charles Lindbergh, Chronostop, Tre Tacche, A-7, Tasti a Spillo and Doppia Lanchetta.
