- Made by Laurent Ferrier, one of the most respected modern era independent watchmakers
- Inspired by the fluid lines and refined finishing of 19th century pocket watches
- Kept in excellent overall condition with minimal signs of use
Laurent Ferrier made its industry debut in 2010 and has since risen to become one of the most respected independent watchmakers of the modern era. At SIHH 2018, the manufacture unveiled its fifth in-house caliber, the LF126.01, featuring an annual calendar function and housed within the special School Piece case.
The collection draws inspiration from Mr. Ferrier's early days at watchmaking school, where he created a pocket watch distinguished by the fluid lines and refined finishing characteristic of 19th-century horology. The Galet Annual Calendar School Piece translates that spirit into a contemporary 40mm case, offered in stainless steel, pink gold, and yellow gold. The present stainless steel example features a blue sector dial with small seconds at 6 o'clock. The annual calendar is displayed through twin windows for day and month, while the date is indicated by a red central hand — a practical and innovative complication adjusted via a pusher at 10 o'clock on the caseband.
Flipping the watch reveals the caliber LF126.01 through a sapphire caseback. Adorned with Geneva stripes and finished with ruthenium, the movement also displays a power reserve indicator positioned above the balance wheel. Dating from circa 2022, this example is offered in excellent overall condition with minimal signs of use, surely a desirable collector’s item.
