- First released in 2017, the Georg collection is named after Georg the Bearded, Duke of Saxony of the 16th century. Offered in various precious metals, the current watch is cased in 18K white gold, which complements the clear white grand feu enamel dial. Grand feu enameling is a very demanding technique as several successive layers of enamel are applied carefully, then fired at high temperatures. To achieve a smooth and homogenous enamel dial, each step must be carried out precisely.
- The dial of this present example, numbered 911, is fitted with a customized dial with Art Deco-styled indexes “9” and “11” in red, creating a slight contrast to the blue accents lancet hands. The dial is was made in request of the original owner, to pay homage to the iconic German sports car the Porsche 911. In fact, the bespoke strap resembles a 911 painted in the iconic Gulfblue colour with orange straps, a well-thought detail by the original owner.
- The handcrafted in-house Calibre VIII is a movement developed for the Georg, with a slim profile and fine crafted single-armed bridges replacing conventional bridges we see in most movements. The winding wheels feature double snailed finish with polished chamfers, and its balance bridge is adorned with a diamond set above. Each component of the watch is fully in-house, including the blued screws, which kind of justifies the trivial number of watches Lang & Heyne produces each year.
