Catalogue Essay
- The swivelling design of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso was radically innovative in both its fundamental concept and the engineering of the intricate mechanism that enabled the case to be functional and a joy to pivot for its wearer since 1931.

- In 1991, six decades after the game changing Reverso was born, Jaeger-LeCoultre embraced the model’s full potential with the introduction of complications with the 60th anniversary model.

- That year, the launch of the Reverso Soixantième was the perfect statement timepiece to coincide with the rebirth of mechanical watchmaking out of the mist of the turbulent period of the quartz crisis. No longer limited to time-only movements, the Reverso Soixantième was made entirely by hand and was produced with a limited edition of 500 pieces only worldwide.

- Featuring a 18K pink gold Grande Taille case, the timepiece features date, small seconds and power reserve. Powered by the entirely new calibre 824, a proud fresh chapter for the brand, the movement is displayed on the reserve side where all finishing of its plates and bridges can be admired.

- Numbered 228 from the limited edition, this present timepiece is kept in an amazing “new-old-stock” condition and retains its original stickers throughout.

- Cherished and admired by the original owner, this timepiece is accompanied by its full set of accessories.

Please note that the proceeds of the sale of the present watch will be given by the Consignor to various charities.

Jaeger-LeCoultre

Swiss | 1833
Not all companies in the watchmaking field have been able to stand the test of time quite like Jaeger LeCoultre, also known as the "watchmaker's watchmaker." Founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre and originally named LeCoutre, the firm provided watchmaking's top brands, such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet, the high-grade, unfinished mechanical movements with which they completed their watches.

In the early 1900s, Cartier's watch supplier Edmond Jaeger sought out LeCoultre's help in creating the world's thinnest watches. The collaboration resulted in the creation of Cartier's earliest Tank and Santos watches, all housed with LeCoultre movements. The duo decided to merge in 1937, and the firm officially became the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand by which collectors know and adore it today. Some of the firm's most significant and important timepieces include the Reverso, the Memovox, the Atmos clock and, among modern watches, their Master Complications.
