Catalogue Essay
In the 1950’s, two of the most renowned manufacturers of horology shared a unique watch together and both names were stamped on the caseback. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Galaxy is the only wristwatch in the world that is co-signed by Vacheron Constantin, due to the fact that they shared the same distributorship in the United States of America. The present Galaxy mystery watch in 14K white gold fitted with a diamond-set black lacquer dial confirms the feat. Most 14K gold watches were shipped to the U.S. due to tax initiatives and it is further confirmed by a stamp inside the caseback indicating the case being made in the United States of America.
