  • Catalogue Essay

    - Released in the spring of 2017, IWC finally reintroduced with somewhat of a “surprise move” the split seconds complication. Powering the timepiece is the manual caliber 76240, 31 jewels. Based on the tried and tested Valjoux 7750, this rattrapante module, was developed and patented by the now famed Richard Habring for IWC in 1992, kicking off the age of modern pilot’s watches.

    - The technical prowess of the movement is further coupled with a generous 41mm case and mesmerizing dark blue dial with red chronographic split seconds details. The contrast is visually striking and certainly evokes the aeronautical heritage that Germany is certainly well known for.

    - Preserved in excellent overall condition and complete with its full set of accessories, the present Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante "Special Edition München" is number 105 of a limited edition of 200 pieces made for the Munich Boutique.
