Catalogue Essay
• IWC’s Da Vinci model was an innovative timepiece first released in 1969 with a Beta 21 movement with a distinctive cushion-like case, date, and integral bracelet (reference 3501). It has evolved into one of the brand’s most recognized collections to the present day. Named after Leonardo da Vinci, the well-known Italian polymath and Renaissance painter, the model reflects his technical excellence and artistic design. In 1985 at the Baselworld Watch Fair, IWC released their reference 3750 with the ingenious integrated perpetual calendar module by Kurt Klaus. The watch had a contemporary design with articulated bar lugs, unique pushers, and double tiered round case.
• The reference 3751 is a historically important perpetual calendar split-seconds chronograph, which was released in 1995 as a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the model. The split-seconds mechanism, designed by Richard Habring, was a new complication adding a 10th hand, compared to earlier examples with a standard chronograph. Encased in platinum, the reference 3751 was made in a limited edition of 500 examples with production running from 1995 to 1999. The model stands out for its technical mastery and craftsmanship, as well as its rarity and historical significance.
• The present model, number 95, is in wonderful original condition and offered complete with its IWC guarantee and presentation box.
