With an interesting story to the name “Portuguese”, the model was first launched by the firm dating all the way back to the innovative period of the 1930’s. When approached by two Portuguese merchants to create an oversized stainless steel wristwatch housing a marine chronometer movement, IWC gladly accepted the challenge and produced an oversized wristwatch sporting a pocket watch movement.
Cased in an elegant oversized platinum case, the present limited edition example was produced with 250 pieces in total. The present watch numbered 92/250 is presented in excellent condition and furthermore presented with all the accessories and an extra sapphire crystal caseback allowing the owner to immerse into the beautiful split seconds chronograph movement.
