Greek jewellery designer IIias Lalaounis (1920 – 2013)is known for his intricate handmade gold jewellery. His instantly recognisable creations – worn by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Jackie Kennedy Onassis - were inspired by ancient Greek history and he frequently incorporated the artisanal technique of hammering metal by hand to achieve the desired shape and effect.
