Catalogue Essay
- The Skypod is a brilliant execution of restoration and modification, and a rare feat where playfulness meets technical excellence. The watch fuses a vintage movement, visible through a porthole on the case back, with a delightful retro design.
- The watch features a beautiful dark blue dial with circular brushed finish, designed by the Swedish architectural studio Claesson Koivisto Rune, sitting inside the elliptical monocoque case in grade 3 titanium. Produced in limited edition, there are only 25 pieces with blue dials (plus 1 prototype and 1 piece unique), in addition to its brown and black variants.
- Designed for pilots, the watch is to be worn on one’s right wrist so that the logarithmic slide rule is easily accessible via the crown on the right, while the inverted chronograph pushers are positioned on the left. Although the case measures 46mm in diameter, it comes with no protruding lugs, and the pebble-like titanium case feels smaller and sits comfortably on the wrist.
- Fitted with a new-old-stock movement La Joux-Perret 8103, based on the Valjoux 7750 with a La Joux-Perret GMT module on top, the movement is fully serviced in 2022 and runs at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and is equipped with 40 hours of power reserve.
- This rare example, accompanied by full accessories, is preserved in exceptional condition, and presents a great opportunity to acquire an affordable and interesting timepiece that should not be missed by any lovers of aviation and horology.
