The Opus series gave birth to groundbreaking collaborations between Harry Winston and numerous independent watchmakers, leading to the creation of distinctive timepieces marked by innovative design, imaginative craftsmanship, and pioneering watchmaking. The initiative started in 1998 when Maximilian Büsser joined Harry Winston as their director at the age of 31, and the development of concept timepieces motivated him to later start his own brand, MB&F (Maximilian Büsser & Friends) in 2005.

The first collaboration for the Opus series resulted from Max Büsser’s chance encounter with François-Paul Journe on an escalator at Baselworld. Launched in 2001, the joint project led to the creation of 18 one-of-a-kind timepieces, including 6 versions of the Resonance, 6 examples of the Tourbillon, and 6 unique pieces with five-day power reserve, one of which is the present example.

The present unique Opus One reference 200/MAFPJ 38P is one of the earliest creations from the esteemed and respected Journe. Powered by the famed automatic calibre 1300, the watch impeccably combines outstanding precision and an impressive five-day power reserve with just one spring barrel. This unique example is distinguished by its desirable brass movement, and stunning green textured dial displaying Journe's signature asymmetric dial layout combining date, hours, minutes and small seconds, amicably complementing the iconic Opus swivelling lugs inspired by the pillars of the Harry Winston flagship boutique in New York.

Establishing a solid foundation while igniting the passion for the Opus series for the years to come, the Opus One is arguably one the most important projects for both parties. In Francois-Paul Journe’s own words, "It is a great honour for me to collaborate with the great Harry Winston, I receive a valuable experience and the people who obtain this Opus, receive the combination of the highest technology and the finest jewellery. The one word to describe this Opus is Adventure." Preserved in superb overall condition, and accompanied by its full set of original accessories, the rare opportunity to obtain this coveted and unique example of the Opus One should not be missed by the serious collectors of independent watchmaking.
