Catalogue Essay
Launched in 2009, the Histoire de Tourbillon collection of watches takes the tourbillon mechanism to new heights with innovative and daring designs. A total of 6 creations now exist and the present lot is the third of this collection. Housed in a massive 65 mm. case, the watch is powered by caliber HW1020 and has a very impressive 50 hour power reserve. The hours and minutes are displayed on two revolving discs, however the main focus is the tourbillon, which is designed and crafted to the highest degree known in horology. Three rotating carriages combine inclined and multiple axes of rotation and links together multiple tourbillon carriages, designed showcasing this complication in a unique and outstanding way. The first carriage is in the centre, rotating once every minute; the second tourbillon carriage features a double tourbillon where each carriage is rotating once every minute in opposite directions making this watch visually stunning and highly complicated at the same time. The watch is numbered 3 of a limited edition of 20 pieces and has a staggering list price of approximately 650,000 USD.
