Although the Total Eclipse is better known for the red gold version, my personal Total Eclipse is the steel version. I started the collaboration wanting to work with this ultra-black dial material and the steel version gives the purest black. These two lots, 8013 and 8014, are my gift and my thank you to the team at The Armoury for a tough few years of business. The sales proceeds of them will be split evenly among them. - Mark Cho

- 4th December 2021 marked the most recent Total Solar Eclipse that plunged Antartica from a bright summer’s day into a daunting state of complete darkness. A bewitching and impressive spectacle, this is a rare occurrence that only happens every 360 to 410 years, when the centers of the Sun and Moon are precisely aligned.
- In an unprecedented collaboration between H. Moser & Cie and The Armoury, the Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse was conceived, embodying the distinct design codes of both houses. Despite coming from different worlds, the independent watchmaker and menswear brand both have a deep appreciation for quality craftsmanship and exceptional elegance. Drawing from the momentous celestial event, the present model was launched in January 2022 with two references, 1327-1200 and 1327-1201, delivered with stainless steel or pink gold accents.
- Both references sport a stark Vantablack dial that absorbs 99.965% of the light, reflecting the astronomical phenomena of a backlit moon obstructing the sun. The polished flange around the dial, in stainless steel or pink gold as the choice may be, provides a stellar representation of the solar corona. The Breguet hands and subtle indices create an eye-catching contrast to the Vantablack dial, while simultaneously giving a gracefully understated appearance.
- Based on H. Moser & Cie’s Endeavour series, the case of the watch is distinct with scalloped sides and downturned lugs. Downsized at The Armoury’s request to a discreet 38mm diameter, this limited edition model is made to be worn with any formal or casual outfit.
- Delivered in “like-new” condition, the present Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse in full stainless steel is one of a limited edition of 28 pieces only. Accompanied by its original accessories, this example offers collectors a wonderful chance to become the proud owner of this small, dark and handsome timepiece. The present lot is further delivered with a framed unique LABEG WATCHART cardboard artwork of the H. Moser & Cie ref. 1327-1200, made exclusively for The Beauty in Everything auction, dated 20th October 2022.
- For a side by side comparison of the two Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse examples, do not hesitate to turn to the previous lot, number 8013, to see the stainless steel ref. 1327-1201 with pink gold accents.
