Catalogue Essay
A true testament to innovative horological mastery, the Moser Perpetual 1 is a revolutionary twist on the concept of the traditional complication of the perpetual calendar. Distinguished for its forward-thinking excellence, the model was awarded the coveted winning title from Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve. Simplicity at its best, the design architecture of the timepiece is exquisitely ingenious. As the name implies, what seems to be a time and date only watch hides an intriguing feature, with twelve months in a year, a small arrow from the center of the dial reveals the perpetual passage of months through twelve thin hour indexes. This perpetual calendar is an instantaneous one, hence the name “Flash Calendar”, meaning all indications jump together at midnight and can be adjusted in either direction without detriment to the timepiece. Flipping the watch to its case back, a discreet positioning of the leap year indicator is concealed on the 12 o'clock mark of the movement. It also features a replaceable escapement module, where upon servicing can be swapped at ease with a fully adjusted and calibrated new module. Fitted with the monochromatic choice of a silver dial and smooth white gold case, the design is remarkably harmonious and certainly beautiful to behold. Offered in great condition, this is a great opportunity for connoisseurs to acquire an understated horological example of modernity and brevity.
