Catalogue Essay
• Released in 2018, the 1941 Principia is Grönefeld’s first time-only wristwatch, featuring a completely original in-house automatic movement, finished and assembled by hand. Now discontinued, the present watch was ordered in 2021 and delivered in July 2025.
• The movement of the present timepiece is impressive. Fitted with a uni-directional winding mechanism weighted by a 22-karat solid pink gold monobloc rotor, the 226-part movement is made of stainless steel bridges replicating bell gables, often seen on the rooftops of Dutch church buildings, referencing the homeland of the Horological Brothers. Rotating on ceramic ball bearings, the rotor’s design prevents wear and eliminates the need for lubrication.
• The beautiful light cornflower blue dial, with a gloss effect, is complemented by a grey buffalo leather strap with matching light blue contrast stitching. Along with the elegant flame-blued lancette hour and minute hands and faceted hour markers, the stainless steel case exudes charm and comfort in equal measure.
• Absolutely unworn and with all of its original accessories, it is presented from the collection of the original owner.
