  • Catalogue Essay

The prestigious partnership between Girard Perregaux and Ferrari sparked in 1993 when Gino Macaluso, owner of Girard Perregaux and Luca di Montezemolo, president of Ferrari met at the time through a common acquaintance, jeweller Gianni Bulgari. At a young age, both gentlemen met on the race track as passionate drivers in the Italian rallies competing in a Fiat Abarth 124 Spider. The passion to create exceptional design with finest beauty and performance brought the two legends to produce the “Girard Perregaux Pour Ferrari” collection.

An instantaneous success, the first timepiece under the collaboration was the limited edition of 499 pieces self-winding split-seconds gold chronograph reference 9015. The timepiece with the beloved “Cavallino Rampante”, the prancing horse, captured the hearts of watch enthusiasts and Ferraristi and was sold out in record time. Followed by the success, the “Girard Perregaux Pour Ferrari” line released three more models: ref. 8020 self-winding chronograph, ref 8025 time with date function, and 8030 a time only model. The collection bloomed into a wide array combination with various case metals and colorplay such as the Ferrari-Yellow and Ferrari-Red.

The present ref. 8020 with an extremely desirable Ferrari red dial boast incredible masculinity. Offered in excellent overall condition with its original Ferrari-red presentation box and guarantee, this is a fantastic timepiece to be strapped on the wrist for a perfect Sunday drive.

  • Artist Biography

    Girard Perregaux

    Swiss • 1791

Celebrating its 225th anniversary in 2016, the company earned its fame as the first vertically integrated Swiss watchmaking company, manufacturing high-grade movements, cases and dials within its premises. Particularly noteworthy are the brand's three-gold-bridge tourbillon pocket watches built by Constant Girard beginning in 1867 — considered amongst the most beautiful movement architectures ever made. An active participant in Switzerland's observatory chronometry competitions, the brand won so many precision awards that they were excluded from competing in 1901.

Key models include nineteenth and twentieth century pocket watches with three gold bridges, modern tourbillon wristwatches with three gold bridges, minute repeating pocket and wristwatches, as well as sport watches such as the Laureato and Sea Hawk.
