Girard Perregaux is recognized for their craftsmanship and innovative designs as well as their historical relationship with the famed auto manufacturer, Ferrari. Enzo Ferrari in the 1950s ordered six custom watches to give to victorious Ferrari racers for events like the Mille Miglia. He continued to request customized timepieces from the brand until they formalized their relationship with Girard-Perregaux becoming the official Ferrari timekeeper from 1994-2004. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ferrari (1947-1997), Enzo Ferrari and his son Piero partnered with Girard Perregaux to design and produce a perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch in a limited edition of 349 examples and named “F50” after Ferrari’s flagship supercar anniversary model of which 349 examples were made.

The present “owner” “F50” is number 3 and consigned by the original owner Andy Evans, a professional racing driver and team owner. Winner of 12 Hours of Sebring in 1995 and 1997, as well as a second place overall finish at 24 Hours of Daytona, Evans owned Team Scandia, an American racing team. Seen at events like NASCAR Cup, 24 Hour at Daytona, they were the winner in 1995 of the World Sports Car Championship with a Ferrari 333 V12 SP prototype—the first Ferrari win at the championships since the 1970s. In 1995, Evans purchased chassis number 3 of the Ferrari F50 V12 series.

The “Andy Evans” F50 is in excellent overall condition with the case back reading “Manufacturé exclusivement por Andy Evans F50 “Owner” 003/349. It is further accompanied by the original numbered automatic winding box reading “Girard-Perragaux por Ferrari F50 Chronographe automatique à Quantième perpétual manufacture exclusivement por Andy Evans 003/349”.

Girard Perregaux

Swiss | 1791

Celebrating its 225th anniversary in 2016, the company earned its fame as the first vertically integrated Swiss watchmaking company, manufacturing high-grade movements, cases and dials within its premises. Particularly noteworthy are the brand's three-gold-bridge tourbillon pocket watches built by Constant Girard beginning in 1867 — considered amongst the most beautiful movement architectures ever made. An active participant in Switzerland's observatory chronometry competitions, the brand won so many precision awards that they were excluded from competing in 1901.

Key models include nineteenth and twentieth century pocket watches with three gold bridges, modern tourbillon wristwatches with three gold bridges, minute repeating pocket and wristwatches, as well as sport watches such as the Laureato and Sea Hawk.
