Gino Levi Montalcini

Pair of highback chairs from the VI Triennale, Milan

circa 1936
Padauk-veneered wood, padauk, hide.
Each: 39 1/2 x 16 3/4 x 19 in. (100.3 x 42.5 x 48.3 cm)
The present two chairs are from a group of seven exhibited in the dining room installation of the 6th Triennale in Milan, 1936. The project was planned and realized by Montalcini along with Ettore Sottsass Sr. (1892-1953) and Carlo Turina (b. 1885). The chairs were arranged along one side of the table facing the windows overlooking the garden, while the curved form of the table allowed for the diners to see each other as well.
