Hiroshi Fujiwara, a pivotal Japanese tastemaker, the arbiter of cool and often cited as the godfather of streetwear is the founder of streetwear label Fragment Design. His footprints spreads across global maisons with the likes of Nike, Louis Vitton, Moncler, Visvim, Supreme, Apple, Stussy and many more. Being a talented musician, he was also instrumental in popularizing hip-hop culture in Japan.

A man of exquisite taste, Fujiwara is also known as a seasoned collector that has amassed an impressive collection of vintage Rolexes. One of his favorite is the Rolex Submariner Explorer 3-6-9. Partnered with Bamford Watch Department, renowned for their contemporary customization on classic timepieces, the duo created the "Heritage 3-6-9" showcasing Fragment’s iconic lightning bolt logo.

Paying homage to the famed Submariner, the present example is the prototype featuring a sleek black dial features Fragment’s logo and Rolex’s 3-6-9 dial configuration. It also features black lumed hands and absence of the red triangle on the bezel which differs from the final production. The stainless steel case is finished in Bamford’s chic matte grey MGTC (Military Grade Titanium Coating), providing added scratch resistance to the watch.

Blending contemporary streetwear aesthetics with vintage Rolex charm, this Fragment Design x Bamford Submariner Prototype is surely a special one not to be missed among watch and streetwear enthusiasts alike.
