Few contemporary watchmakers have had as profound an influence on independent horology as François-Paul Journe. Since founding his manufacture in 1999, he has remained steadfast in his philosophy of Invenit et Fecit—"Invented and Made"—a motto that reflects his commitment to conceiving, developing, and manufacturing his timepieces entirely in-house. Combining classical watchmaking traditions with technical ingenuity and a distinctly modern aesthetic, F.P. Journe has established himself as one of the most respected names in contemporary haute horlogerie.
Introduced in 2011, the Octa Sport collection marked a significant departure from the manufacture's traditionally precious-metal offerings. Conceived at the request of a long-standing collector and endurance athlete seeking a mechanical watch suitable for marathon and triathlon competition, the model showcased Journe's pursuit of lightweight engineering through the extensive use of aluminium. In 2018, the collection evolved with the introduction of the second-generation Octa Sport Automatique Réserve. Offered in platinum, rose gold and Grade 5 titanium, the titanium models were distinguished by their aluminium-alloy calibre 1300.3, an exceptionally lightweight self-winding movement that perfectly complemented the sporting character of the watch.
The present example, preserved in excellent overall condition, is fitted with the highly attractive yellow dial, one of the most striking configurations of the reference. Accompanied by its guarantee and presentation box, it represents an increasingly desirable expression of F.P. Journe's vision of the modern sports watch combining technical innovation, exceptional wearability and the uncompromising approach to watchmaking that has defined the manufacture since its inception.

F.P. Journe
Swiss | 1999Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.
Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.
