Good To Know:

- Annual Calendar
- 19 pieces made in 2003
- 38mm platinum case and brass movement

The Octa Calendrier, produced between 2003 and 2005 in a 38 mm case with a brass movement, was the third model in the Octa series to house the record-breaking calibre 1300.

The present Octa Calendrier features a rare 38 mm platinum case with an early brass automatic movement and a vibrant yellow gold dial. According to the accompanying papers from F.P. Journe Patrimoine, the watch was produced in 2003, with only 19 examples made that year.

Interestingly, the case is engraved “04,” indicating it was originally allocated to the 2004 production. As Journe ordered cases in advance, it is possible that the watch was initially intended for the 2004 series but was completed and sold earlier.

One of the earliest models introduced within the Octa series, the Octa Calendrier features an annual calendar complication with a retrograde-style date sector, presented within the brand’s iconic asymmetrical dial layout. Fitted with a 22-karat gold off-centered rotor, the movement achieves greater efficiency in self-winding. The watch combines a contemporary aesthetic with unmistakable hallmarks of traditional watchmaking, including iconic blued steel hands and finely executed guilloché engraving on the main dial.

F.P. Journe

Swiss | 1999

Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.

Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.
