Catalogue Essay
- Introduced in 2001, the Octa was F.P. Journe’s first self-winding movement, following the Tourbillon Souverain and Chronomètre à Résonance. It debuted with the Octa Réserve de Marche and transitioned from brass movements to solid pink gold calibers by 2004. In 2003, the Octa Lune joined the collection, distinguished by the addition of a moonphase display and later awarded the GPHG “Montre Homme” prize.

- The Octa Lune shares its design DNA with the Réserve de Marche but adds a celestial charm with a moonphase at 7 o’clock, just below the 120-hour power reserve display. Produced in pink gold or platinum cases with dial variants in white or pink gold. Powered by the pink gold calibre 1300-2 with a bi-directional rotor, straight-line lever escapement, and 4-arm balance, the movement showcases Journe’s signature finishing with Côtes de Genève throughout.

- The present example features a platinum case paired with a white gold dial. Offered in excellent condition, this Octa Lune reflects the brand’s commitment to precision, elegance, and mechanical artistry—an outstanding piece from one of contemporary watchmaking’s most revered figures.

F.P. Journe

Swiss | 1999
Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.

Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.
