Catalogue Essay
The F.P. Journe Octa Automatique Réserve "Havana" was introduced in 2016, together with the Octa Automatique Lune "Havana", admired for their unique tobacco brown dials dubbed “Havana”. The distinctive brown hue of the dial is a result of mixing ruthenium with gold which creates a shift in color and saturation under different lighting conditions. It was developed by Journe’s own dial maker, Les Cadraniers de Genève, and underwent rigorous adjustments to perfect the formula for the combination of gold and ruthenium.

The dial on the present Octa Automatique Réserve "Havana" is completed with a Clous de Paris hobnail guilloché on the center, matching the soft cream-coloured hands, numerals, and date wheel, perfectly accentuating the alluring warm hues of the Cuban brown that invokes a hot Havana night.

Presented in excellent overall condition and accompanied by complete set of accessories, the rare opportunity to obtain the present timepiece will surely appeal to the ever-growing enthusiast and collectors of F.P. Journe.

F.P. Journe

Swiss | 1999
Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.

Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.
