“Indeed, I am happy when my objects are used, even if they are spoilt because they come alive, they emerge from pure functionalism and fill lives. I am also very pleased when they are mixed with different objects, when they are incorporated into the lifestyle of those who own them.”
—Mattia Bonetti, Domus, June 2010In the early 1990s, two European collectors enlisted the expertise of Jacques Grange, their long-time interior designer, David Gill, the pioneering gallerist of contemporary design, and Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti, two young emerging designers to create a fantastical interior completed in 1996. This early commission is wholly singular in its stylistic language with each work standing as a testament to the genius of the original project and a catalyst for their subsequent body of work which consistently weaves eccentricity with tasteful materials and a deference to historical influences allowing their works to be incorporated into any lifestyle.
