Regarded as one of the most innovative independent watchmakers of our time, De Bethune has ceaselessly impressed collectors with the unconventional displays of time in timepieces, expressed through exciting exotic materials. Evolved from the brand’s first chronograph DB1, the ref. DB8R was launched in 2003, releasing a monopusher chronograph featuring a simpler dial layout.

Stepping away from the typically audacious designs, the present timepiece features a clean and classic white dial with contrasting blue Arabic numerals, a railroad track and blued steel feuille hands. Fusing form and function, the dial is adorned with hand-finished guilloche patterns that further separate the different registers, simultaneously enhancing its appearance and legibility.

Cased in 18K solid pink gold with ogival lugs is the cal. DB5008, it is a reliable movement with 36 hours of power reserve. De Bethune co-founder Denis Flageollet, who also co-founded Techniques Horlogères Appliquées (THA), with the rights to the monopusher movement developed during his THA days, was able to develop a single-button chronograph for the DB1, then evolving into the current movement for the DB8. It surely has elegantly inherited the fine traits of its predecessor with subtle updates.
