Catalogue Essay
Daniel Roth's aesthetic, reimagined as a sporty, everyday watch. The temptation when making an everyday watch is to simplify and make more tool-like but DR instead expanded his language to include a delightfully oddball pattern to the bracelet. An incredibly fun and wearable timepiece. - Mark Cho

- Daniel Roth, one of the first independent watchmakers in the industry, is regarded as one of the greats between both collectors and critics. Having been instrumental in shaping companies like Breguet, Jaeger LeCoultre and even Audemars Piguet, he established the Daniel Roth brand in 1989 and enjoyed much recognition for breaking the mould of conventional haute horology.

- The present Le Sentier is a sporty stainless steel dress watch, fitted with an unusual “Lego” bracelet. Echoing its signature “ellipsocurvex” dial, the integrated bracelet features elevated studs forged in the same shape as the symmetrical stadium-shaped case. The dial is hand-finished with iconic guilloche patterns, complemented by blued hands and Roman numerals in black, further highlighted by a brush-finished hour chapter. Fusing form and function, this clean and legible display is topped with a date aperture at 6 o’clock that also enhances its practicality.

- Designed to turn heads, the present Le Sentier is a rare gem, offered in excellent overall condition.
