A celebration of unprecedent milestone in 2023, the Antarctique Rattrapante “Hope” 『希望』marks the 350th anniversary of Mitsukoshi Group in Japan. Radiating in a spectrum of colours evoking a rainbow, the limited edition model symbolize a bridge towards the future, a leap forward.
A significant and iconic pillar of Japan, Mitsukoshi's founding dates all the way back to the Edo era in 1673. Started as a kimono fabrics shop “Echigoya” in the first district of Edo Honcho (present day Tokyo) to the retail conglomerate debuted in Taisho era 1914 with its Mitsukoshi Nihombashi Main store三越日本橋本店, it is the destination for luxury goods and all things desired. Decorated with bronze lion statues guarding its doors and elevators, it is where Japan’s first escalator was installed in a store!
The “Hope” sold exclusively at the Mitsukoshi Nihombashi store is limited to 8 pieces only. It has the rattrapante chronograph mechanism placed on the front (a world first), and the column wheels shaped like a raving sun are located at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock, allowing you to enjoy the operation of the chronograph.
The automatic winding cal. SHX6 beating at 28,800 vph was developed in collaboration with Chronode, led by master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon who collaborated with models such as MB&F Legacy Machine 1, Harry Winston Opus X, Trilobe, Hermès Arceau L’heure de la lune and many more. Powered by a single barrel, the timepiece has up to an impressive 60 hours of power reserve.
Preserved in “like-new” unworn condition, for collectors who have more than one favourite color, this Antarctique Rattrapante has them all.
