Catalogue Essay
Corum introduced the “Bubble” collection in 2000 as an oversized wristwatch with extra-large crystal that was to be a radical change from traditional horology and appeal to a new millennium. The watches were produced in limited numbers and paid tribute to a variety of themes as seen with these three iconic timepieces. The “Jolly Roger” chronograph identifies with the traditional flag flown by pirate ships during the early 18th century, while the “Casino Bubble” with roulette dial is a remember of casinos around the world and the “Bubble Dive Bomber” is a tribute to the Flying Tigers, one of the most successful and celebrated combat groups in aviation history.
