Representing Dutch watchmaking since 1974 under his name, Christiaan van der Klaaw was part of AHCI (Swiss Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants) and presented the first astronomical clock
In 1992, he won the award for the most innovative movement design for his Pendule Variable in Basel, Switzerland. Continue his expertise and passion for astrology, Christiaan van der Klaaw debuted his first wristwatch, the CVDK Staellite du Monde in 1994. A that showed the time, day and date, as well as the moon phase, day and night indicator and the place on earth where it is exactly noon at the time you are looking at your watch. In 1999, he created the present masterpiece CVDK Planetarium: the smallest mechanical Planetarium in the world that pays homage to Dutch grandmaster astronomers including Christiaan Huygens, Eise Eisinga.
Sized at 40mm diameter and cased in stainless steel, the present variation of the CVDK Planetarium features an alluring Aventurine dial creating an infinite star filled sky that surrounds its universe at 6 o’clock and the calendar indication at 12. The golden sun is positioned exactly in the middle of the planetarium and sits perpendicular with the 12 claws sun mark of Christiaan van der Klaauw at 12 o’clock. A beautiful hand-engraved rotor with the brand mark and planets powers this mechanical marvel. Equipped with twin barrels, the self-winding calibre CVDK7386 provides a generous power reserve of 96 hours. Breathtakingly beautiful the present timepiece is presented with is original warranty and accessories.
