- In the mid-1990s, as traditional watchmaking slowly emerged from the far-reaching shadow of the quartz crisis, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard, established a dedicated workshop to develop the Maison’s very first in-house calibre, a tribute to the legacy of founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard. The result was the L.U.C 96.01-L, an automatic micro-rotor movement of remarkable versatility and peerless craftsmanship for its era. This landmark creation not only gave rise to the Chopard Manufacture but also heralded the birth of the prestigious L.U.C luxury watch collection.
- To mark 50 years of Scheufele family leadership, Chopard presents the L.U.C 1963, a platinum limited edition of just 50 pieces. The design is one of understated refinement: a “porcelain-like” dial with gorgeous Roman numerals, accents of red at small seconds counter that overlaps tastefully with the minute track on an otherwise minimalist dial, a softly sculpted satin-brushed case, and signature blue "Dauphine-fusée" hands.
- Within, the chronometer-certified cal. 63.01-L offers a 60-hour power reserve and exquisite hand-crafted decoration, bevelled nickel-silver bridges, Côtes de Genève, gilded engraving, and a delicate swan’s-neck regulator. Hallmarked with the Poinçon de Genève, it is a timeless distillation of Chopard's horological excellence.

Swiss | 1860At the age of 24, Louis-Ulysse Chopard started his company L.U.C. Chopard in Sonviller, Switzerland. Since the brand's inception in 1860, Chopard understood the need for thin and accurate pocket watches to be functional for daily wear. The brand gained world recognition in 1912 after Tsar Nicolas II became a client.
Following Louis-Ulysse's death in 1915, his sons Paul-Louis and Paul André took over the business and moved their headquarters to La Chaux-de-Fonds. In 1963, the company was taken over by Karl Scheufele, who remains the brand's owner. Arguably Chopard's most recognizable design, the "Happy" line, was inspired by Scheufele's daughter Caroline. In 1996, his son Karl-Friedrich established Chopard as a manufacturer of its own range of in-house movements under the name L.U.C., creating groundbreaking, exquisitely finished watches that have earned the brand worldwide acclaim.
