Good To Know:
- Important watch that merges design with watchmaking by a jewelry house
- Powered by movement that was developed by F.P. Journe
- Represents an important moment in the history of independent watchmaking, showing the talent of Journe in the early years
Stylish and eye-catching, the present jump hour watch by Chaumet is a sight to behold, merging the jeweler's aesthetics with important watchmaking. Crafted in yellow or white gold and unveiled in 1992, the watch features a flying-saucer-inspired case with twin apertures displaying the hours and minutes.
Powering the Chaumet Jump Hour 10A is the base calibre ETA 2892-2. Modified as a jump hour, this automatic calibre has an engine-turned finish, a golden-coloured Chaumet-signed rotor, 21 jewels, and a power reserve of 42 hours. Most interestingly, it was F.P. Journe himself who was commissioned to develop the movement for this timepiece before the name F.P. Journe was even in the minds of the public sphere. Thus, it represents a golden era of experimentation, innovation and adventure and a period where F.P. Journe – the man – paved the path for the great watchmaking to come. Mr. Journe’s fascination with jumping displays continued with the increasingly ambitious Vagabondage I, II, and III and his early works are rare and increasingly sought after by collectors, making this an exceptional opportunity.
