Good To Know:

- Offered by the original owner
- Fresh-to-the-market and first example to appear in the auction market
- Numbered 9 of a limited edition of 20 pieces

Amongst the major Cartier collections, in this auction we are offering this limited edition Baignoire Allongée from the Libre Collection, coming from its original owner, the watch is in excellent “like-new” condition with full set of accessories. Similar to the Libre Baignoire Allongée Céladon released in 2019, this Baignoire Allongée is also a limited editioned item but with even lower availability, only 20 pieces are available instead of the 50 pieces with the 2019 Céladon. This is numbered 9 out of the 20 limited pieces, and it is the first time publicly available in the auction market.

It is not common to see Baignoire Allongée watches with the setting showcased in the present watch. The previous 2019 Céladon, available in 18K white or yellow gold, comes with the same setting but with different gemstones, the Céladon is set with emeralds, Paraiba tourmalines, black spinels, yellow sapphires or diamonds. For the present watch, it has 2.47ct diamonds in total and a mesmerizing pavé diamond dial, deep blue sapphires adorn the dazzling diamond case in an uncommon pattern that may recall the tentacles of an octopus. The beaded crown is also set with a brilliant-cut diamond. The watch is fitted with an ardillon pin buckle set with diamonds, a very nice touch to complete the glamorous look with the watch.

Cartier

French

With the Constitution of 1848 came a new standard for luxury in France. Founded one year prior by Louis-Francois Cartier, the house of Cartier was one of the first to use platinum in jewelry making. This incredibly expensive material became the stepping-stone for Cartier to experiment in form, mechanisms and attitude. It helped men move from pocket watches to wristwatches, effectively making the watch much more functional and prominent in a man's overall wardrobe.

Cartier did not only touch on functionality. Inspired by a commissioned painting by George Barbier featuring a black panther at the feet of an elegantly bejeweled woman, Cartier began incorporating wild animals in his designs—most notably, Cartier Panthère rings, bangle bracelets and watches. Yet it wasn't until the late 1960s that the house of Cartier debuted their iconic yellow and rose gold LOVE collection, which includes the famous bracelet that only a special screwdriver can open.
