Catalogue Essay
The Rotonde de Cartier collection has long served as a platform for Cartier to explore complications in watchmaking. This collection features remarkable timepieces that blend elegance with impressive technical prowess. Encased in 18K pink gold, this present watch stands out from traditional Cartier designs, which emphasize larger and more ornate styles.

Measuring 42mm, the dial of the Rotonde de Cartier Jump Hour boasts a unique construction. Its tonal aesthetic, featuring various shades of grey and silver, is highlighted by a Roman numeral jump hour aperture at 12 o’clock, framed by the same plate that serves as the indices for the rest of the dial. This raised central platform adds depth to the Jump Hour display, enhanced by its rosette guilloché pattern, Cartier-signed cartouche, and the minute scale chapter ring. A hidden minute hand appears as a grey concentric brushed ring just within the minute scale, with a black arrow indicating the minutes.

Powered by the in-house manual-wind cal. 9905MC, the Rotonde de Cartier Jump Hour exemplifies Cartier’s ability to transform the classic jump hour design into a unique and captivating piece that aligns seamlessly with their design ethos. Offered with all accessories and without reserve, this timepiece is undoubtedly a special release from Cartier.

Cartier

French
With the Constitution of 1848 came a new standard for luxury in France. Founded one year prior by Louis-Francois Cartier, the house of Cartier was one of the first to use platinum in jewelry making. This incredibly expensive material became the stepping-stone for Cartier to experiment in form, mechanisms and attitude. It helped men move from pocket watches to wristwatches, effectively making the watch much more functional and prominent in a man's overall wardrobe.Cartier did not only touch on functionality. Inspired by a commissioned painting by George Barbier featuring a black panther at the feet of an elegantly bejeweled woman, Cartier began incorporating wild animals in his designs—most notably, Cartier Panthère rings, bangle bracelets and watches. Yet it wasn't until the late 1960s that the house of Cartier debuted their iconic yellow and rose gold LOVE collection, which includes the famous bracelet that only a special screwdriver can open.
