Catalogue Essay
- The Santos-Dumont watch large model got yet another special reboot in summer 2023. Launched together in a series of three models with a colored lacquered bezel for the first time: limited edition platinum with red accents, limited edition yellow gold with cream accents, and finally, limited in production stainless steel with black accents.
- Extremely sought after and commanding a long wait list due to its slick pitch-black appeal rarely seen in the Cartier catalogue, the black dial is engraved with subtle infinite square motifs, invariably creating a three-dimensional effect. With the applied Roman numerals added, the dial has an incredible depth.
- Powered by the manual wound 430MC calibre, its profile on the wrist has an incredible measurement at just 7.3mm thin.
- Rumored to be discontinued in production this year, the present example is in “like-new” condition with its full set of accessories, ready for a collector to put it on their wrist for the first time.

Cartier
FrenchWith the Constitution of 1848 came a new standard for luxury in France. Founded one year prior by Louis-Francois Cartier, the house of Cartier was one of the first to use platinum in jewelry making. This incredibly expensive material became the stepping-stone for Cartier to experiment in form, mechanisms and attitude. It helped men move from pocket watches to wristwatches, effectively making the watch much more functional and prominent in a man's overall wardrobe.Cartier did not only touch on functionality. Inspired by a commissioned painting by George Barbier featuring a black panther at the feet of an elegantly bejeweled woman, Cartier began incorporating wild animals in his designs—most notably, Cartier Panthère rings, bangle bracelets and watches. Yet it wasn't until the late 1960s that the house of Cartier debuted their iconic yellow and rose gold LOVE collection, which includes the famous bracelet that only a special screwdriver can open.
