Catalogue Essay
The Tank collection has long served as a blank canvas for Cartier, evolving into numerous iterations, shapes, and complications since the 1910s. Over a century of excellence has ensured that the fundamental principles and construction of a Cartier Tank remain unchanged.

The present timepiece is an elegant iteration of the Cartier Tank MC. The "MC" stands for "Manufacture Cartier", indicating that it houses the in-house caliber 1904 MC automatic movement. One notable distinction between a standard Tank and a Tank MC is the inclusion of a sapphire crystal display caseback in the latter. This feature allows wearers to admire the intricate mechanics of the movement, enhancing the allure of owning a mechanical watch.

Encased in luxurious pink gold, this watch features a flat caseback with a curved top that gracefully wraps around the wrist. Its classic guilloché dial adds to its sophistication, while the practical date function makes it suitable for daily wear. In excellent condition and complete with its warranty and presentation box, this timepiece possesses the wrist presence that serious collectors seek.

Cartier

French
With the Constitution of 1848 came a new standard for luxury in France. Founded one year prior by Louis-Francois Cartier, the house of Cartier was one of the first to use platinum in jewelry making. This incredibly expensive material became the stepping-stone for Cartier to experiment in form, mechanisms and attitude. It helped men move from pocket watches to wristwatches, effectively making the watch much more functional and prominent in a man's overall wardrobe.Cartier did not only touch on functionality. Inspired by a commissioned painting by George Barbier featuring a black panther at the feet of an elegantly bejeweled woman, Cartier began incorporating wild animals in his designs—most notably, Cartier Panthère rings, bangle bracelets and watches. Yet it wasn't until the late 1960s that the house of Cartier debuted their iconic yellow and rose gold LOVE collection, which includes the famous bracelet that only a special screwdriver can open.
