- In 2022, Bulgari celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Octo Finissimo by releasing two special editions known as the "Sketch" models. These watches pay homage to the man behind their design, Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bulgari's product creation executive director. Each limited edition consisted of 200 pieces and featured the original hand sketches by Stigliani as the dials. One model was a time-only Octo Finissimo Automatic, while the other was the present lot Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT.
- The Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT houses the Bulgari cal. BVL 318, which is a slim automatic chronograph dual-time movement with a platinum peripheral rotor. The genius of the rotor allows the wearer to admire the movement without obstruction. Remarkably, this movement measures just 3.30mm in thickness and offers a power reserve of 55 hours. Its ultra-slim profile and technical prowess make it one of the world's thinnest automatic chronograph movements.
- Offered in barely worn condition, the watch also comes with its warranty and presentation box. With its whimsical and unique "human-touch" design, this watch carries the spirit of the original sketches by Stigliani.
Bulgari
ItalianOriginally from Kalarites, Greece, Sotirios Voulgaris emigrated to Rome because of Greece's rising poverty and difficulty separating from the Ottoman Empire. He set foot on Italian soil in 1880 with little money in his pocket and spent the next four years preparing what would go on to become Italy's oldest jewelry company.
In 1884, Bulgari opened its doors to the Italian people with its offering of jewelry and accessories. Bulgari's style takes from traditions in Greek and Roman craftsmanship to elegantly balance volume and subtlety. Later, in the late 1960s, Bulgari bridged classicism and modernity by introducing its seductive, now-iconic Serpenti collection of snake-shaped coil bracelets and watches. It is through its meticulous combination of influences that Bulgari has garnered an international and loyal high-profile clientele, which included Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn. These Hollywood stars have immortalized the house's unique gem-adorned bracelets, necklaces and earrings in rounded forms.
