- Abraham-Louis Breguet is one of the greatest watchmakers known for technical inventions and a classic aesthetic that set the foundations for modern horology. He led the way for two of the most important complications sought after by collectors, the tourbillon and like the present wristwatch, the perpetual calendar. Breguet invented the first self-winding perpetual calendar pocket watch whose understated elegance is a hallmark of the brand even 200 years following his death.
- Breguet’s Classique Collection draws its inspiration from the 18th century with a timeless design, stunning guilloché dial, and Breguet-style hands. The present reference 5327 perpetual calendar wristwatch is refined and distinctive. The dial layout is perfectly legible and ingenious with the month indication in the center and day and leap year indicators on either side. The subsidiary date dial is at 6 o’clock with the moon phase and power reserve set at 2 o’clock and 11 o’clock respectively.
- This horological gem is offered for the first time at auction by the original owner and is in preserved in excellent overall condition.

Breguet

Swiss | 1775

Established in 1775 by Abraham Louis Breguet, widely considered the greatest watchmaker of all time, the storied brand continues to thrive in the modern era, creating exceptional high-end watches as the Swatch Group's premier prestige brand. Some of the most important and lasting inventions in watchmaking are attributed to Abraham Louis Breguet, including the tourbillon, shock resistance and the use of hammers and gongs employed in nearly all minute repeating watches made since.

Eighteenth and nineteenth century Breguet pocketwatches are especially sought-after by collectors, and many of them were made for the elite of European society, including Napoléon and Marie Antoinette. Key wristwatches from the twentieth century include oversized dress watches, two-register chronographs, triple calendars and Type XX aviator's chronographs made for the French military and civilians.
